Staff Wellness promotes the health, safety, and well-being of school staff; provides the necessary support that maximizes the talents of all individuals; and creates an equitable, accessible, and productive work environment.

The Staff Wellness component promotes:
  • Compliance with state mandated wellness policies;
  • Opportunities for daily physical activity for staff.

Goal: Promote school / community environments that support staff wellness through planned efforts, that advance knowledge, skills, and personal commitment to the staff's own health and that of their students.

6.12.6 NMAC SCHOOL DISTRICT WELLNESS POLICY:

  • This rule requires each school district and charter school to develop and implement local wellness policies that include:
    • A plan addressing the staff wellness needs of all school staff that minimally ensures an equitable work environment and meets the American with Disabilities Act, Part III.

6.12.2.10 HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (HIV):

  • This rule requires local school boards, local school districts, and charter schools to implement a policy that will ensure that the rights to privacy of all school employees infected with HIV are protected.
